Delitero vs DoorDash online ordering
DoorDash Storefront and Delitero both put ordering on your own website and both leave the customer relationship with you on paper. The difference that matters is not the headline rate. It is who can change the arrangement after you have built your business on it.
What each one costs
DoorDash markets Storefront as commission-free, with a payment processing fee per order. As of 2026-04-17, its published rate was 2.9% + $0.30 per order on the Boost and Pro packages and 3.3% + $0.30 on Starter. Check DoorDash's current pricing page before you decide: this is exactly the kind of number that moves, and a page that quotes it forever without a date is not doing you a favour.
Delitero is 5% per order, only when you sell. No subscription, no setup fee, no contract. Nothing else. Stripe charges its own standard processing rate on top, paid to Stripe, and we never present it as ours.
So on the headline arithmetic, Storefront's per-order cost is lower than ours, and you should know that from us rather than find it out later. What you are buying for the difference is the rest of this page.
Who can change the deal
DoorDash's merchant terms open by reserving the right to revise them, and say that by continuing to use the services after revisions take effect, you agree to be bound by them. No general notice period is stated. Only "material" revisions trigger notice, and DoorDash judges what is material. Fee changes carry 7 days written notice; regulatory pass-throughs carry 15.
Delitero's terms give you 30 days notice by email before any material change takes effect, including a change to the fee, and you can close your account before it does. There is no continued-use-means-you-agree clause and there never will be: that sentence is the thing this row exists to be the opposite of.
What that power looks like when it is used
This is not hypothetical, and it is checkable. DoorDash's Premier "Growth Guarantee" was marketed as an ongoing feature of the package. Between 2024-04-13 and 2024-07-20, its footnote gained one clause: eligibility became limited to "the Merchant Location's first 6 months on the Marketplace platform". The body copy selling the guarantee was left untouched.
An ongoing guarantee became a six-month new-partner promotion, and the only public trace is an asterisk. No announcement, no changelog, no notice. We verified this by diffing four archived snapshots of the page on 2026-08-18, and you can do the same.
This is what repricing and repackaging looks like in practice. Nothing was shut down and nobody was told; the terms of the deal simply moved.
Your investment in the channel
DoorDash's terms state that neither party has any expectation of, or has received any assurances for, future business, or that any investment by a party will be recovered or recouped. Paired with the right to change, suspend, or discontinue any DoorDash product at any time, the work you put into the channel is disclaimed in writing.
Your customer list
Storefront is genuinely better here than the marketplace, and it is worth saying so. DoorDash's terms grant you the customer's full name, email address, delivery address and phone number, and permit marketing outreach subject to your own privacy policy and to TCPA. That is a real grant, and more than some competitors give.
The catch is the exit. The list is available on request, within 30 days of termination, and is forfeited if DoorDash terminates you for material breach. So it is yours while the relationship lasts, and conditionally yours when it ends.
On Delitero the list is not granted to you, because it was never ours to grant. Customer details sit in your own account and in your own Stripe account throughout, and there is no request, no window, and no forfeiture clause. Your customer data spells out what we hold and what we never do with it.
Where each one is the right answer
- Storefront, if the marketplace is your channel. If most of your online volume comes from DoorDash's app and Storefront is the cheaper direct sibling of a relationship you already have, the per-order arithmetic favours it and the integration is one place instead of two.
- Delitero, if you want the channel to be yours. Your own Stripe account, your own drivers, no marketplace relationship to keep, 30 days notice on any change, and no clause that makes continuing to trade an agreement to new terms.
